Child Weight Charts

The child weight chart below will help you estimate whether your child’s body weight is in an ideal range for optimal health and longevity. Using child weight charts instead of adult weight charts is critical if you want to get an accurate estimation.

In the first 12 months of your baby’s life she will increase in weight by 8 ounces monthly, and increase in height by almost 1/2 of an inch. By the end of her first year, she will have tripled her birth weight.

Keep in mind that the chart below is not a truly accurate way to measure your child’s ideal body weight. Children often have periods where the grow very quickly. During these growth spurts they will gain or lose weight extremely quickly, as well increase in height literally overnight. This occurs most commonly in young girls who have extreme changes in their height, weight, and overall body composition.

It should be considered a rough estimation only. Be sure to consult your physician if you think your child may be under or overweight. They will use medical charts to track your child’s growth as they mature, and advise you whether your child needs to lose or gain weight in order to be a healthy weight.
