If you are overweight, losing as little as 5-15 pounds can improve literally add years to your life by lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and dramatically decreasing your risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Do you think you are underweight?
Being underweight can also pose serious health problems such as hearth problems, metabolic disorders and bone and joint problems. If you are underweight, it’s important that you increase the number of calories in your diet so that your body starts to build lean tissue and increase fat stores.
How do I Know if I’m a Healthy Body Weight?
The easiest way to determine if you are a healthy body weight is to use a weight chart, like the one listed below. To use the weight chart below follow these steps:
- Take your body weight
- Find your height at the far left of the weight chart
- Determine whether your body weight falls into the “Low”, “Target”, or “High” category
The chart on the left is for females, while the chart on the right is for males. Not that these charts are for adults over 20 years of age. You may also be interested in child weight charts or teen weight charts.
Keep in mind that the numbers in this weight chart are just estimates, and in order to get more accurate results you should consider having your body fat percentage taken as well as anthropometric measurements.
